After you have set-up a business and spent time, effort and money, what comes next is selling your product. But this is the phase when most of the businesses don’t know what to do. This shouldn’t be the case with you. Always remember one thing that you should never push your product on your customers rather always think of providing value to them. The aim of your sales team should be to help the prospects which can help them become more efficient and productive.
Change what you think: Rather than thinking that how would you close a deal your approach should be to solve the problems of the customers. Hence before describing him/her the features of the products it is better to know what their requirements are and what problems they are actually have. This will help you to recommend them the right product. In case neither of your products solves the customer’s problems, either your product is not up to the mark your sales pitch needs to be improved. By putting questions to clients you can also get an insight of whether your product’s price is cost-effective or not or about your customer service or how your product makes your customer’s life easy. Whatever be the case, always try to connect your product with your customers.
Add value to your products and services: Don’t be mistaken that if you have sold the product, your job is done. What salesman does is after selling a product they hand off the customer to the sales team and this is biggest mistake one should always avoid. Instead what you should do is call them and ask them if they are facing any problems and solve them there and then. You don’t have to sell anything here but a communication will help you connect to the customer. This can help you gain feedback which will help you improve in the long run.
Empathize with your customers: Instead of acting as a selfish sales person who is just looking to sell his products, your sales team should be a problem solver. They should listen carefully and attend the customer’s problems with utmost sincerity. This will build a trust between you and your customers and they would also like to purchase again and again from you. But if the case is vice versa, once purchased he will never come back to again. Hence empathize with them and feel their problems as your problems.
Deliver a solution instead of forcing a product: You customers buy from you because they want their problems solved but if your product doesn’t do that then it is useless for him. Hence, rather than pushing a product on your customers, you sales team should explain them that how the product will make a difference to their lives. Besides; start-ups come into business with an aim to dish out something new, something different. You want to create and innovate. So instill this feeling into your sales team too so that they bring out the best in them
